The Port of Tanjung Buton is Still Improving, Roro Ship will Move to Sei Selari Pakning

News24xx.com - The transfer of the port of the Roll on Roll off (RoRo) ship that connects mainland Riau with the Riau Islands from Tanjung Buton to the port of Selari River, Pakning, Bengkalis Regency is just waiting for orders from the Ministry of Transportation.

The head of Bengkalis KSOP, Julharia said, the Regional Transportation Management Office (BPTD) of Region IV Sumatra has conducted an assessment to determine the feasibility of the port.

"The results of their assessment, our port on the Selari river is safe for crossing vehicle transportation from Riau to the Riau Islands, with a maximum load limit of 8 tons of vehicles," he said, Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Julharia said, from the results of the assessment, only waiting for permission from the Ministry of Transportation to operate. As for port readiness, there are no obstacles.

"Especially in our port there are already vehicle scales. So we can anticipate vehicles entering through the port, no more than 8 tons," he said.

Julharia estimates that the Sungai Selari port will operate serving crossing between provinces in the near future. Just before Christmas and the new year 2020.

"The operation of Roro Sei Selari port services to the Riau Islands will only take place temporarily, because the port of Tanjung Buton will soon be repaired," he said.

"From the statement of the Ministry of Transportation, the plan to repair Tanjung Buton will be completed and resume operations in March 2020," he concluded.
